With a successful dance now completed, Student Council held a meeting today to make-up for the weeks missed due to the parent conference & holiday schedule. Students addressed a new meeting structure, council expectations, and upcoming program ideas. We have a lot to share!
Mr. Duffany and Ms. Mills will be joining the Student Council to help with grade-specific projects and fundraising. While the full council will focus on planning programs that build community and school spirit, members will also work with those in their grade to plan events that raise money for grade activities (field trips, etc).
The STEM Student Council has a lot planned for the next few weeks…
STEM Academy Food Drive – STEM Advisories will be collecting non-perishable foods for the Sandwich Food Pantry, beginning on Monday, December 8th. Advisories will compete to contribute as much as possible to help those in need!
Holiday Wishes – STEM students will be able to send holiday notes to their friends before Winter Break. Any money raised will also be used to benefit the Sandwich Food Pantry. More details to come soon!
STEM Superbowl I – The 8th Grade is sponsoring our first annual STEM Academy Flag Football Tournament on Friday, December 19th at 5:00pm! Students can create a team and sign up to play under the lights on the high school football field. Each team must have between 6-8 players. Teams must be co-ed, with at least two members of each sex. Each player pays $5 to enter (teams of 6 = $30; teams of 7 = $35, teams of 8 = $40). See Ms. Sheeley in room A304 to register and complete a team roster.
Members also signed up for Ms. Wentworth’s “Remind” Student Council group today. “Remind” is an application that allows teachers to send group notifications to students’ phones or e-mails. Ms. Wentworth will use this to remind students of upcoming meetings and projects. Parents who would like to receive these notifications, as well as students who could not attend the meeting, can sign up by visiting https://www.remind.com/join/192ab or by texting @192ab to 81010
